Hi Rafi,

Was with you omom a few weeks ago. Needless to say we are all thrilled with your clean bill of health. I have found your writing to be courageous, honest, rich, deep. You have moved me. I still picture you on the soccer field and strategizing on the basketball court.
It’s hard to really put yourself in someone else’s shoes, but you’ve really managed to write with such depth. I am glad that so many people tried to be with you in you fears, pain, surgery and treatment. It is indeed a testimony to the goodness in us all. It make me breath a sigh of relief in the midst of a world that could be so cynical.
I’m sure you will enjoy your time back at school and back in the midst of things. Thanks for all the wiriting and your inspiration.

I stumbled upon your blog from Bwog, and have followed your journey closely, as I am also a Columbia student dealing with a chronic–but not as scary–disease. I am so glad you are out of the thick of it and am wishing you well in the coming months.

Thanks, Raf; I am glad for the technology that has allowed me to follow your progress to healing via this blog, far away as we are in California.

I do hope you continue this blog; to let it evolve. From its origin, I imagine that it would be influenced by your illness, but I find my self wondering how your life’s path will change as a result.

I hope you are back in school in the Fall, writing again for the campus newspaper.

We went to a minor league baseball game together once… I’m a friend of Pete’s.

I’ve been reading your blog since meeting you, and at every step, I’ve deeply appreciated your humor, your insight, and above all your honesty. You were able to articulate things that I’ve thought about a lot and haven’t been able to put into words (my mom had cancer). For some reason reading this blog every once in a while made a difference in my life.

This piece in particular struck a chord, so I figured I should send a thank you in return…
